Definition of “transactional” and “promotional” messages.

• All communication will be classified as transactional or promotional. Transactional messaging will use acommunication pipe separate from promotional messaging.
• “Transactional message” means an SMS containing only -
  1. Information sent to its customer(s) by a bank, financial institution, insurance company, credit card company, depositories registered with Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI) or Direct to Home(DTH) operators pertaining to the account of that customer(s)
  2. Information given by Airlines, Indian Railways or its authorized agencies to its passengers regarding travel schedules, ticket booking and reservation
  3. Information from a registered educational institution to its students, their parents or guardians
  Exception:
  
   Any message transmitted by or on the directions of central or state government, by or on the directions of bodies established under the constitution will be exempted from the definition above.
  Any message that is not an exception (per above) and does not fall under categories (i to iii) above, are strictly treated as “promotional”. We will amend our policies periodically based on any changes that TRAI publishes to this classification.

• What are the categories of promotional messages?

Promotional messages can be sent in the following categories.

1. Banking/Insurance/Financial products/credit cards,
2. Real Estate,
3. Education
4. Health
5. Consumer goods and automobiles
6. Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT,
7. Tourism and Leisure.

• What are the messaging hours?

No commercial communication, aka promotional messages, shall be sent between 9PM to 9AM to any subscriber irrespective of the fact that such subscriber is registered on NCPR or not. There are no time restrictions for transactional messages.

How to Activate  through SMS:

0 – Fully blocked Registration

Partially Blocked
 1 – for receiving SMS relating to Banking / Insurance / Financial Products / Credit Cards START 1 to 1909
 2 – for receiving SMS relating to Real Estate  START 2 to 1909
 3 – for receiving SMS relating to Education START 3 to 1909
 4 – for receiving SMS relating to Health START 4 to 1909
 5 – for receiving SMS relating to Consumer goods and automobiles START 5 to 1909
 6 – for receiving SMS relating to Communication / Broadcasting / Entertainment / IT START 6 to 1909
 7 – for receiving SMS relating to Tourism and Leisure START 7 to 1909

It takes 7 days for registration of the number in the NDNC registry.

Attackers hacked two popular file sharing websites. They are none other than Bittorrent.com and utorrent.com websites.

As per the official news, attackers hacked the websites and uploaded fake file(software) which has malware. Users who downloaded this software and installed unknowingly affected with malware in their systems.

However, this attack is limited to this particular fake Anti Virus software known as Security Shield. Anyone who downloaded and installed this software from these  two sites between 4:20 AM and 6:10 PM (California time) should scan their systems immediately for infections.

The attack affected only users who downloaded and installed software from these two sites. However, the Security Shield which was downloaded from other websites is not infected with Virus or Malware.
